Effective January 2, 2024, the City of Markesan will be switching garbage and recycling companies from Waste Management to GFL Environmental, Inc. (Green for Life).
Trash pick-up will be every Monday; with recycling being bi-weekly starting January 2, 2024. GFL will be delivering carts to residents the week of December 18th. There will be a calendar and flyer delivered with the GFL carts. Note: do not put recycling in plastic bags. Be aware of proper cart placement. Please have carts ready for collection services by 6 a.m. on pick-up day.
Residents need to put both WM carts out on December 28th. Leave these carts out until they have been picked up by WM.
WM will not service GFL carts in December.
Bulky trash will be twice a year on Friday & Saturday the last weekend of April and the third weekend in October at the drop off site at the City Shop.
WOOD CHIP MULCH AVAILABLE AT MARKESAN'S RECYCLING CENTER
Residents from the City of Markesan, Town of Green Lake, Town of Manchester and Town of Mackford are able to pickup free wood chip mulch out at the Recycling Center, at N2298 County Road A, on Saturdays from 8-2pm.

In 2022, Markesan Water Department tested for numerous contaminants, and no health based violations were found. To view the 2022 CCR (Consumer Confidence Report) click on the green button above. CITY OF MARKESAN ANNUAL DEER MANAGEMENT HUNT ON CITY PROPERTY
The City of Markesan is offering an annual bow hunt on City-Owned property starting September 16, 2023 until January 31, 2024. If you are interested in participating, please contact the Clerk-Treasurer's Office by calling 920-398-3031 or stop into the Clerk's Office by August 25, 2023. An application and a fee of $20 is required by all hunters. There will be a meeting on August 31st at 6pm at the Community Center at the City Hall for all hunters that have signed up. There is a limit of 12 hunters.See below for rules and permit policy.
